A Weight-Neutral Approach to Exercise

Traditionally exercise has been all about weight loss. The links between the fitness industry and diet culture messaging are plain to see. So why take a different approach? Statistically, as many as 80% of people who diet to lose weight regain some of all of the weight within one year. So it's clear that this approach doesn't have the desired effect.

Instead of focussing solely on aesthetic changes and body transformations, I train my clients weight neutrally, which means weight and size does not come into the equation. My philosophy is all about putting health first. I promote the many health gains of exercise such as improved stamina, better cardio-vascular health, improved posture, more stable mood... there are so many other benefits to exercise other than for body transformation.

I work in depth with my clients to help them understand how to move their bodies in a way that is maintainable in the long term rather than aiming for short term unsustainable goals. We focus on lifting weights to support joint and muscle longevity and build core strength, we increase mobility to help prevent injuries and wear and tear, we tackle plyometric exercises to increase cardio-vascular health. All of these are long-term health benefits of exercise.

So what is it like to work with a weight-neutral PT?

 - We will use tried and tested exercises in a plan that is tailored to you and your body

 - I will never tell you to restrict your diet or how or what to eat

 - We will measure your gains in strength and fitness

 - We will have fun with exercise

This is not a quick fix, this is a long-term process that will allow you to become to fittest, strongest and healthiest version of you without denial or the need or dieting
